EP – Extended Play for Die Hard Matchbox Twenty Fans
Unless you’re a die-hard Matchbox fan, you won’t have much reason to pick this up. If, however, you are one of us, then it’s a great buy. I mean, what’s not to like? Check out the line up!
1. Crutch – taken from their awesome Storytellers show
2. Push – another great live version recorded at The Hard Rock Cafe
3. All I Need – Live
4. Disease – Acoustic
5. If You’re Gone – Acoustic
6. Suffer Me – a previously unreleased track.
Like many of you, I have lots of live versions of Matchbox songs and these made a welcome addition to my collection. As did the jazz version of Crutch. But to be honest with you, I’m not a massive Suffer Me fan. Don’t get me wrong, it’s quite cool but it’s not spectacular. It’s never made it onto a iPod playlist put it that way.
But it’s Disease and If You’re Gone are where it comes alive for me. I could listen to these stripped down versions all day long. It’s another great example of just how good Rob is. To break his songs down to just one guitar and one voice and to still have them sound great is no easy thing.
What also rocks is the video content. It was great to have some updated ‘behind the scenes’ stuff to take a look at. This mini feature is taken from footage of their top secret ‘Catbox Honey’ show that kicked of the More Than tour. Filmed at The Troubadour in L.A., this intimate gig saw the first live performances of their new material. You’re So Real, Hand Me Down, Long Day and Push all make an appearance on the video as does the first showing of electric version of If You’re Gone. I don’t know if any of you went but if you did let us know!!!
All in all, it’s a great little collection and well worth adding to your collection.
