The new album is due for release in early 2011, and will be followed up by several matchbox twenty tour dates around the world Certainly the band have released some extremely varied material, from 1996 angst ridden Yourself Or Someone Like you to the seventies rock sounds of More Than You Think You Are.

New Album, New Dynamics

The dynamics of Matchbox Twenty have changed since the release of their last full Studio Album – they dropped Rhythm Guitar player Adam Gaynor and Paul Doucette, the bands drummer took his place, making them a four piece. 2007’s Exile on Mainstream prevvied us to 6 new tracks and gave us a possible taste of things to come, the fast paced apocalyptic How Far We’ve Come made a bold statement, whilst These Hard Times, reminiscent of the More Than You Think You Are Ballads reminded us of the tender side of Matchbox Twenty. All Your Reasons took us back to the days of Push, and the reverse love song – a matchbox twenty trademark!

Back into the studio

The band have grown so much in the past 4 years, and so as the way in which the band members work together, writing collaboratively and allowing each others creativity to come through. The hype is certainly building for the new album as well, the recent announcement from the newly created Matchbox Twenty Twitter account (@officialmb20) that they were all together again in the studio was met with great anticipation, a later announcement stated they’ll be back in the studio next week to continue the second leg of album writing.

One things for certain, at long last we can all breath a sign of relief, as the new matchbox twenty album, is at last definitely happening!
